Privacy Policy

Effective date: 12 June 2026

ZoneKit is a free utility website. This privacy policy explains what information the site collects, how it's used, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

Browser storage. Our tools save your preferences — selected cities, format settings, countdown details — in your browser's local storage on your own device. This data is never sent to us. You can clear it any time via your browser settings (Clear browsing data → Cookies and site data).

Server logs. Like most websites, our hosting provider maintains standard server logs of visits — including IP address, browser type, and pages viewed. These logs are used for security and basic traffic analysis only.

No accounts. We don't require sign-up. We don't collect names, emails, or any personal information directly from you.

Cookies and similar storage

ZoneKit uses browser storage for two purposes only:

  • Cookie-consent preference (essential). When you accept or reject the cookie banner shown on your first visit, we save your choice in your browser's localStorage under the key zk_cookie_consent. This expires after 365 days, after which we will ask again. This storage is essential to honour your decision and does not require consent under UK/EU rules.
  • Tool preferences (essential). Tool settings like selected cities, time format, and countdown details are saved in your browser's local storage so they persist between visits. This data stays on your device and is never sent to us.

We do not currently use Google Analytics, social-media trackers, or any other behavioural-tracking scripts at the time of writing.

Advertising (forthcoming)

We intend to introduce display advertising in the near future to help fund the cost of running the site. The initial network will be Google AdSense, but we may add other reputable ad networks (such as Mediavine or Ezoic) or accept direct sponsorships over time. When ads are active:

  • Ads will appear only on pages with substantial editorial content, never inside the tool interfaces themselves.
  • If you accept via the cookie banner, ad networks may use cookies to personalise ads based on your interests and prior browsing. This is standard behaviour for AdSense and most other networks.
  • If you reject via the cookie banner, ads will be served in non-personalised mode — they will still appear but will not be tailored using cookies or your browsing history.
  • You can change your decision at any time using the "Cookie settings" link in the site footer.

This policy will be updated again whenever a new ad network is introduced, so you can see the exact date and nature of the change.

Third-party services

The only planned third-party integration is Google AdSense (see "Advertising" above). This site uses no other tracking scripts — no Facebook Pixel, no Hotjar, no behavioural advertising beyond what's described above.

Children's privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect data from children.

Your rights

You can clear your locally stored data via your browser's settings. You can opt out of personalised ads at the Google link above. If you have other privacy questions, please contact us.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the date above. Material changes will be highlighted on the homepage.
